Pakistan Launches Online Passport Application System Nationwide

Digital Governance Initiative Expands With Online Passport Services Launch

ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – The government of Pakistan has approved a major digital reform in passport services, introducing a home-based online application system that will allow citizens to apply for passports without visiting regional passport offices.

The decision was taken in a high-level meeting chaired by Director General Passports Muhammad Ali Randhawa, with participation from the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) technical team and senior officials from relevant departments.

Officials reviewed the current passport issuance system in detail and discussed a range of modernization measures aimed at aligning services with international standards and improving efficiency through digital transformation.

Under the new initiative, citizens will be able to submit passport applications online from their homes, significantly reducing long queues, processing delays, and congestion at passport offices nationwide. Authorities say the system is designed to improve transparency, accessibility, and overall service delivery.
