WASHINGTON: (Web Desk) – Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, hosted a dinner at Pakistan House in Washington, D.C. to honor a delegation of leading Pakistani business figures visiting under the SelectUSA Investment Summit.
The gathering brought together senior American officials, including Paul Kapur, Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia, and Charles Goodman, U.S. Consul General in Karachi, along with representatives from the US Department of State and US Department of Commerce.
The Pakistani delegation included 16 representatives from nine prominent companies spanning multiple sectors, aiming to explore investment prospects and strengthen economic ties with the United States.
In his remarks, Ambassador Sheikh welcomed both Pakistani and American participants, highlighting that Pakistan-US relations are entering a new phase centered on economic cooperation and long-term partnerships. He emphasized that engagement between the two nations is increasingly vital in the current global landscape.

He also pointed out that Pakistan’s recent policy direction has focused on geo-economics, noting that increased activity at Karachi Port amid Middle East tensions underscores the country’s strategic importance. He encouraged businesses from both sides to tap into Pakistan’s economic potential and geographic advantages.
Speaking at the event, Paul Kapur acknowledged the evolving nature of bilateral relations, stating that while security has historically been a key pillar, economic collaboration is now taking center stage. He stressed that economic stability is closely tied to national security and highlighted strong opportunities for joint ventures and investment.
Charles Goodman appreciated the ambassador’s efforts to promote trade and investment, noting that initiatives like SelectUSA offer Pakistani businesses direct access to the US market. He described the visit as a positive step toward expanding economic engagement between the two countries.
