Pakistan ATP Challenger Cup 2025 Kicks Off in Islamabad with International Participation

The tournament offers an important platform for local players to earn ATP ranking points and gain international experience.

Islamabad: The Pakistan ATP Challenger Cup officially began at the PTF Tennis Complex in Islamabad, marking a historic first for Pakistan as it hosts an ATP tournament. The event has attracted 25 international players from countries including Romania, Turkey, Ukraine, USA, Czech Republic, Kazakhstan, Australia, Italy, Bulgaria, Austria, Sweden, Georgia, Great Britain, and Switzerland, alongside 10 top-ranked Pakistani players.

Sweden’s Elias Ymer, ranked 169 in the ATP World/PIF rankings, leads as the top seed, while Great Britain’s Jay Clarke, ranked 213, is the second seed.

Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi, President of the Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF), expressed pride over the milestone, stating, “In my entire career, I have always played this tournament outside Pakistan. Today, I am fortunate and proud to play it in my own country.” He thanked the ATP for supporting Pakistan in hosting the event and welcomed all participating players. The tournament offers an important platform for local players to earn ATP ranking points and gain international experience.

PTF Secretary General highlighted the significance of this achievement, noting that hosting an ATP event in Pakistan for the first time underscores the Federation’s efforts to promote professional tennis in the country.
