Arshad Nadeem Misses Commonwealth Games Javelin Medal
Arshad had qualified for the final with a throw of 78.63 metres in the qualification round
Glasgow: (Sports Desk) – Pakistan’s Olympic champion Arshad Nadeem missed out on a medal in the javelin throw final at the Commonwealth Games after finishing ninth with a best throw of 77.41 metres.
Competing among the 12 finalists, Arshad was unable to improve his position after the opening three rounds. His first attempt was ruled invalid, while his best effort of 77.41 metres came in the second round, leaving him ninth in the standings and out of medal contention.
Arshad had qualified for the final with a throw of 78.63 metres in the qualification round but could not replicate that performance in the medal-deciding event.
Sri Lanka’s Ramesh Pathirage produced the standout performance of the competition, launching the javelin 89.75 metres in the second round to secure the gold medal.
India’s Neeraj Chopra opened with a throw of 80.97 metres before improving to 85.83 metres in the second round, while fellow Indian Rohit Yadav registered 81.56 metres with his second attempt.
Despite falling short of the podium, Arshad Nadeem remains one of Pakistan’s leading athletics stars and will now shift his focus to upcoming international competitions.
