Rybakina Books Spot in US Open Final Against Sabalenka

Kazakh star sets up title clash with defending champion Sabalenka

Rybakina – (Special Correpondent/Web Desk) – Elena Rybakina books her place in the US Open final after outlasting Coco Gauff in a gripping three set battle on Thursday. The Kazakh star won 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 to reach her first ever final at Flushing Meadows.

Gauff started strong and took the opening set in front of a roaring Arthur Ashe crowd. The American broke serve and looked in control early on. Former first lady Michelle Obama was among the fans watching from the stands.

Rybakina did not let the setback shake her. She settled her nerves, found her rhythm, and leveled the match in the second set. Her powerful serve and aggressive baseline play slowly wore down Gauff’s resistance.

The decider was tense from start to finish. Rybakina pulled ahead 5-3, but Gauff fought back with a break of her own to keep hope alive. The American could not hold serve after that, and Rybakina sealed the win moments later.

With this victory, Rybakina is guaranteed to become the new world number one. She now turns her attention to Aryna Sabalenka, who beat Jessica Pegula 7-5, 6-2 in the other semi-final.

Sabalenka is chasing her third straight US Open crown, a feat only Serena Williams and Chris Evert have managed in the Open Era. Rybakina already has one win over her this year, having beaten the Belarusian in the Australian Open final back in January.

Speaking after the match, Rybakina praised her opponent and admitted she needs to raise her game further. She said she must serve better and stay aggressive if she wants to lift her third Grand Slam trophy.

The defeat also means no American woman has reached a Grand Slam final this year, the first time that has happened since 2006. Fans now look ahead to a blockbuster final between two of the sport’s fiercest competitors.
