Jennifer Lopez Seeks Divorce from Ben Affleck

Jennifer Lopez Files for Divorce from Ben Affleck After Over 20 Years Together, Including Two Engagements and Two Weddings

After a relationship that lasted more than 20 years, including two engagements and two weddings, Jennifer Lopez has filed for divorce from Ben Affleck. This marks the end of their highly publicized relationship, famously known as “Bennifer.”

Lopez submitted the divorce petition on Tuesday at the Los Angeles Superior Court, citing April 26, 2024, as the date of separation. The filing did not include any details about a prenuptial agreement. TMZ was the first to report this development.

The couple first connected in the early 2000s, becoming engaged and starring together in films such as Gigli (2003) and Jersey Girl (2004). They separated, partly due to the intense media scrutiny, but reunited two decades later. They married twice in 2022, starting with a quick ceremony in Las Vegas, followed by a larger celebration at Affleck’s home in Georgia.

Both Affleck and Lopez had prior marriages. Affleck, 52, was previously married to Jennifer Garner from 2005 to 2018, with whom he shares three children. Lopez, 55, had been married three times before: to Ojani Noa (1997-1998), Cris Judd (2001-2003), and Marc Anthony (2004-2014), with whom she shares 14-year-old twins. She also had a brief engagement to Alex Rodriguez before rekindling her romance with Affleck.

Lopez had been open about the pressures of high-profile relationships, expressing that it has sometimes led her to doubt herself. Despite the challenges, she remains determined to navigate her personal and professional life with resilience. Affleck has praised her for her self-awareness and commitment to her craft.

Lopez’s recent work includes starring in the upcoming film Unstoppable and the Netflix movie Atlas. She recently canceled her 2024 North American tour, citing a need to spend time with her family. Her latest album, This Is Me…. Now, was inspired by her renewed relationship with Affleck, reflecting on her journey through love and heartbreak.

In her recent film project, Lopez plays a character called The Artist, whose journey through love is portrayed with both its ups and downs, acknowledging that not all love stories end happily.
