Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Stars as India Sweep Zimbabwe T20I Series

NEW DELHI: (Sports Desk) – Teenage cricket sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi produced another impressive performance as India defeated Zimbabwe by 35 runs in the third T20 International to complete a 3-0 series sweep.

Winning the toss at Harare Sports Club, India posted a strong total of 192 for five, powered by a blistering 81-run knock from Sooryavanshi. The young batter faced 49 deliveries and smashed four sixes and eight boundaries during his match-winning innings.

Zimbabwe, ranked 10 places below India in the T20I rankings, managed 157 for seven in reply. Lower-order batter Ryan Burl provided resistance with an unbeaten 54, but Zimbabwe could not chase down the target.

The victory marked a strong comeback for India after recent disappointing T20I results, including a 2-0 series defeat against Ireland and a 4-0 loss to England. Zimbabwe also suffered their second consecutive series defeat after losing 2-1 to Bangladesh.

At just 15 years old, Sooryavanshi became the youngest cricketer to represent India. Since making his international debut, he has impressed during the tour of southern Africa, following his appearance in the England series where he scored 42 runs across three innings.

The teenager enjoyed a memorable Zimbabwe tour. He smashed his maiden T20I half-century in just 18 balls during the first match and followed it with a quick 20 off nine balls in the second game.

In the final match, Sooryavanshi showed his attacking intent immediately, hitting a boundary from the first delivery he faced against Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza. He reached his half-century from 31 balls before being dismissed on the final ball of the 14th over.

Sooryavanshi was caught by Brad Evans at long-off while attempting another big shot off Wessly Madhevere’s bowling.

Wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan also contributed with a 29-run innings, hitting four boundaries before being bowled by Raza.

Zimbabwe struggled early in the chase, losing four wickets for just 65 runs. Openers Brian Bennett and Sikandar Raza were both dismissed without scoring. Ryan Burl and Wessly Madhevere later added a 60-run partnership for the fifth wicket, but it was not enough to change the result.
