US Supports Pakistan Defend Against Terrorist Attacks
US supports Pakistan defend itself, says State Department after border strikes
PAKISTAN & US – (Web Desk) – The United States has voiced strong support for Pakistan’s right to defend itself against terrorism. This comes after Pakistani forces launched precision strikes on militant hideouts near the Afghan border.
The US State Department said Pakistani people have suffered greatly because of terrorist violence. Washington backed Islamabad’s military response, calling it a rightful act of self-defense.
The operation, named Ghazab lil-Haq, began with an intelligence-based raid in Bajaur district. Four militants were killed, including a senior commander linked to hostile networks operating from across the border.
Following this, security forces carried out overnight air strikes between June 28 and 29. Three militant camps in Paktia, Paktika, and Kunar were destroyed, killing twenty-five fighters.
Officials said the targeted sites held large stocks of weapons and ammunition, all of which were wiped out during the strikes.
The government said this action followed a string of terror attacks inside Pakistan, including incidents in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, and an attack on a Rangers camp in Karachi.
Separately, Pakistan’s military shot down four basic drones that were launched from Afghan Taliban territory along the Balochistan border.
Pakistan remains a key non-Nato ally of the US, and ties between the two nations have strengthened since President Trump returned to office. Islamabad has also helped ease tensions in the recent US-Israel-Iran standoff.
Pakistan has repeatedly accused the Afghan Taliban government of sheltering militant groups behind cross-border attacks.
