US Says Iran Air Base Attack Was a Direct Response to American Strikes

US Says Iran Air Base Attack Signals Dangerous New Phase in Middle East Tensions

US vs IRAN – (Web Desk) – The US says Iran air base attack was carried out by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps after American forces struck Iranian military sites along the Gulf coast over the weekend. Both sides are trading blows even as ceasefire talks remain ongoing.

The US military said it hit Iranian air defenses, a ground control station, and two attack drones. Washington says the action came after Iran shot down an American MQ-1 drone flying over international waters. Centcom called it a direct and necessary response.

Iran did not stay quiet. The Revolutionary Guards said they launched a strike on an air base used by US forces. Kuwait reported sirens and active air defense interceptions shortly after, with missiles and drones detected in the sky.

This is not the first exchange since both sides agreed to a ceasefire in early April. A similar round of strikes happened just last Thursday. Talks aimed at a lasting agreement are still dragging on with no clear breakthrough in sight.

The bigger picture is grim. A war launched by the US and Israel on February 28 has already killed thousands of people in Iran and Lebanon. Iran’s near-closure of the Strait of Hormuz has pushed energy prices higher around the world, squeezing everyday consumers.

President Trump says his main goal is to stop Iran from building a nuclear weapon. Iran denies it ever planned to. Meanwhile, Trump faces pressure from voters over rising gas prices and from hardliners in his own party who want tougher action on Tehran.

Diplomacy is also tangled up in the Israel-Lebanon front. Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu has ordered troops deeper into Lebanon against Hezbollah. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is pushing a plan for gradual de-escalation and has spoken with both Lebanese and Israeli leaders.

The road to peace remains long, complicated, and uncertain.
