South Korean Court Issues Arrest Warrants for Former President Yoon Suk-yeol

Yoon Suk-yeol Removed from Office Following Impeachment Vote in South Korean Parliament

ISLAMABAD: A South Korean court has issued arrest warrants for former President Yoon Suk-yeol, following a request from the Joint Investigation Headquarters for arrest and search warrants.

According to foreign news agencies, the request was made in connection with ongoing investigations into the former president’s actions. However, media reports indicate that the approval for impeachment still requires a ruling from the Constitutional Court. Yoon’s legal team has claimed that the arrest and search warrants are unlawful.

Yoon Suk-yeol was removed from office on December 14 after the National Assembly approved his impeachment. The decision followed a brief martial law declaration and came after a vote by 300 members of South Korea‘s parliament, where 204 lawmakers voted in favor of his impeachment.
