Free Electricity Units Abolished for Power Sector Officials in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – In a first in the country’s history, free electricity units previously granted to power sector officials have been abolished.

Federal Minister for Power Division Awais Leghari welcomed the decision of the Lahore High Court, stating that ending the facility of free units had long been a public demand and has now been fulfilled.

He said the step reflects a long-standing public concern and expressed appreciation for the court’s ruling. The minister added that the government considers this a significant reform in the power sector.

Awais Leghari further stated that, God willing, the government will continue to take all necessary measures aimed at national improvement and public interest.
