Sindh Heatwave: Mercury to Hit 50°C, PMD Issues Heatwave Precautions for Elderly Pakistan Residents
Heatwave Precautions for Elderly Pakistan as Sindh Faces Extreme Heat This Eid
Sindh – (Web Desk) – Pakistan’s weather department has issued a serious warning about heatwave precautions for elderly Pakistan residents, women, and children as a dangerous heatwave is expected to hit Sindh from May 25 to 31, just days before Eid ul Adha celebrations begin.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) says temperatures could climb four to six degrees above normal levels across several districts. A strong high-pressure system is expected to build in the upper atmosphere starting May 25, pushing the mercury dangerously high.
The worst-hit areas will be Sukkur, Shikarpur, Jacobabad, Larkana, and Dadu, where temperatures may touch between 47°C and 50°C. Districts including Shaheed Benazirabad, Khairpur, Ghotki, and Naushahro Feroze are also in the severe heatwave zone.
In southern Sindh, people living in Hyderabad, Badin, Tharparkar, Umerkot, and Mirpurkhas should prepare for temperatures ranging between 44°C and 47°C. Residents of Matiari, Tando Muhammad Khan, Jamshoro, and Sanghar may also see the mercury touch 47°C.
Karachi will not be spared either. The city is expected to face hot and humid conditions over the coming days, with the temperature reaching up to 36°C.
The PMD has urged farmers to take extra care of their crops and livestock during this period. The extreme heat could cause serious damage if proper steps are not taken in time.
The heatwave will not be limited to Sindh alone. Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan are all expected to experience moderate to severe heatwave conditions from May 25 to 31.
With Eid ul Adha falling between May 27 and 29, millions of Pakistanis planning outdoor gatherings and qurbani rituals should take the heat warning seriously and stay protected.
