PTI Leaders’ Passports Blocked Over Non-Appearance in Case

PESHAWAR: (Staff Reporter) – An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) has ordered the blocking of passports belonging to several senior Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi.

According to the court order, passports of Asad Qaiser, Sher Afzal Khan Marwat, Shah Ahmad, Sher Ali Arbab, Muhammad Iqbal Afridi, Dr Amjad Ali, Junaid Akbar, Shahid Khatak, Zubair Wazir, Omar Ayub, Arshad Umarzai, Zar Alam, Mian Umar, Akhtar Khan and Humayun Khan have also been ordered blocked.

The order also covers Riaz Khan, Abdul Kabir Khan, Tufail Anjum, Asif Mehsud, Ajab Gul, Muhammad Usman, Babar Saleem Swati, Irfan Saleem, Advocate Ali Zaman and Malik Shahab.

The court observed that the accused had been nominated in the case, while the investigation officer had expressed apprehension that they could leave the country to avoid facing legal proceedings.

The court order stated that the accused are facing serious allegations, including attacks on state institutions and the promotion of terrorism. It further noted that they had failed to appear before the court.

The court also observed that some of the accused who had secured interim bail had failed to join the investigation.
