SOUTH DELHI: (News Desk) – Seven students have been killed after a five-storey private hostel building collapsed in South Delhi, according to Indian authorities.
Rescue teams recovered two more bodies from the rubble, raising the confirmed death toll to seven. Officials said 11 people have so far been rescued, while an estimated 30 to 50 students are feared to remain trapped beneath the debris.
A large-scale search and rescue operation is underway as emergency teams continue efforts to locate those still missing.
Authorities said water had accumulated in the building’s basement and that repair work being carried out in the area may have contributed to the collapse.
Meanwhile, CCTV footage showing the moment the hostel building came crashing down has surfaced on social media. The video reportedly captures a nearby shopkeeper rushing away as the structure collapsed.
