KYIV: (News Desk) – At least 16 people have been killed and more than 130 injured after two Russian drone strikes hit a shopping centre in the central Ukrainian city of Kryvyi Rih, according to local authorities.
The regional governor said several injured people remain in critical condition, including five children. Rescue teams are continuing operations at the site, clearing debris and searching for anyone who may still be trapped beneath the rubble.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the attack, describing it as particularly brutal and unacceptable. He said the second drone struck the shopping centre around 30 minutes after the initial attack, apparently targeting emergency and aid workers responding to the first strike.
The latest assault comes amid renewed Russian air attacks across Ukraine, while Kyiv has continued carrying out drone strikes against targets inside Russia.
Kryvyi Rih holds particular significance for Zelensky, as the city is his hometown.
