Security Forces Kill 37 Terrorists in KP Operations

RAWALPINDI: (Special Reporter) – Security forces have killed 37 terrorists in separate intelligence-based operations across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the Pak-Afghan border region, according to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

The ministry said systematic and comprehensive intelligence-based operations were launched following recent terrorist attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The operations were carried out in Kohat, Hangu and other areas, targeting hideouts and safe havens of terrorist groups.

According to the ministry, airstrikes were also conducted against terrorist hideouts linked to the attacks. On September 20, intelligence-based operations in Kohat and Hangu resulted in the deaths of nine terrorists affiliated with what the government describes as the Indian proxy Fitna-ul-Khawarij, while several others were injured.

The Ministry of Information said terrorist camps and hideouts were also targeted in the Pak-Afghan border region. Three targets were successfully destroyed, including a training centre used for preparing suicide bombers.

The ministry said 28 terrorists, including several suicide bombers, were killed during the operations. A large quantity of weapons and ammunition stored at the targeted camps and hideouts was also destroyed.

The Ministry of Information said Pakistan has consistently sought peace and stability in the region, while ensuring the safety and security of its citizens remains the government’s top priority.

It expressed concern over what it described as the continued presence of terrorist centres in Afghanistan and said the threat of terrorism facing Pakistan was emanating from Afghan territory. The ministry said terrorist centres were targeted with precision as part of efforts to counter the threat.

According to the ministry, maximum precautionary measures were adopted during the operations to prevent collateral damage.

The government said the anti-terrorism campaign “Ghazdul-Haq” would continue with full force, with the objective of eliminating terrorism from the country and countering what it describes as foreign patronage and support for militant groups.
