Punjab – (Web Desk) – Punjab livestock export plan 2026 is now taking shape as the provincial government moves forward with strong steps to boost meat exports. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif is leading this initiative to strengthen the livestock sector and improve economic growth across Punjab.
The government has signed agreements with seven companies, including a major Chinese meat firm. These partnerships aim to increase meat exports and improve processing facilities. A new boiler unit will be installed in collaboration with PAMCO to prepare boiled meat on a large scale for international markets.
Officials say around 300,000 animals will be used for meat exports. At the same time, the province plans to fatten 300,000 cattle and buffaloes, along with 300,000 sheep and rams. Another 100,000 goats and sheep will be raised specifically for export purposes.
To support farmers, the government will build modern veterinary hospitals in every tehsil. Mobile veterinary units will also visit villages to treat animals and provide basic healthcare services.
During a special meeting, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif approved several key decisions. One major step is doubling the quota of free livestock for rural women, helping them earn a stable income.
For the first time, mechanisation is being introduced in the livestock sector. Farmers will receive up to 60% subsidy on machinery like milk chillers, feed mixers, and weighing scales. This will improve efficiency and production quality.
In South Punjab, over 9,000 animals have already been distributed among widowed and divorced women in 12 districts. To meet export goals, the government plans to tag two million animals and provide two million subsidised semen doses for better breeding.
The briefing also shared positive health updates. No cases of haemorrhagic septicaemia or lumpy skin disease have been reported since 2022. Even after recent floods, the livestock remained safe. A locally made vaccine is now available at a much lower cost compared to imported ones.
Speaking at the meeting, the chief minister said the livestock sector was ignored in the past. She added that it is now being developed as a key source of income and self-reliance for people across Punjab.
