LAHORE: (Staff Reporter) – Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat has announced plans to return to the classroom as a teacher from the first week of September, saying the move will help him better understand and improve the quality of education across the province.
The minister said he will begin teaching at a school in Lahore, where he will initially conduct lessons in subjects such as English and Chemistry, which he considers his areas of interest and expertise.
He explained that he intends to teach English at the primary level and Chemistry at high schools while also assisting with other subjects whenever required.
Rana Sikandar Hayat said he will visit schools every week without prior notice and personally conduct classroom sessions. He added that he holds teachers in high regard and would consider it an honour to take on the responsibilities of an educator.
The education minister said the initiative will allow him to observe teaching practices directly, identify challenges faced by teachers and students, and better understand gaps within the classroom environment.
The decision follows instructions from Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, who recently directed the education minister to participate in teaching activities as part of broader efforts to strengthen the province’s education system.
