PTI Confirms Gohar, Sohail Afridi Met Naqvi After Bannu Terrorist Attack

Bannu Terrorist Attack Triggers Secret PTI-Government Talks

PTI leaders – (Web Desk) – The deadly Bannu terrorist attack pushed PTI leaders into action as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan quietly met Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi to discuss the worsening security situation in the province.

The meeting took place on May 14 at night at Barrister Gohar’s residence. CM Afridi arrived without a protocol vehicle, accompanied only by his driver, suggesting the talks were kept low-key on purpose.

PTI Information Secretary Sheikh Waqas Akram confirmed that terrorism in KP, especially the Bannu clash, was the main topic. In that attack, two police officers and two civilians were martyred while 25 militants were killed in a fierce exchange with security forces and a local peace committee.

Imran Khan’s sister, Aleema Khan, broke the silence on social media. She clarified that no family member attended the meeting and that they had no prior knowledge of it. CM Afridi later confirmed on X that the talks were strictly about law and order — not politics.

However, a senior PTI source revealed that Imran Khan’s access to family visits and his medical treatment were also discussed. The Islamabad High Court had already ordered twice-weekly meetings for Imran, but those orders remain ignored for weeks.

PTI has long demanded that Imran be shifted to Shifa International Hospital for treatment of a serious eye condition — right central retinal vein occlusion — which has reportedly left him with very limited vision.

Interior Minister Naqvi reportedly signalled during the meeting that KP CM Sohail Afridi is not among his preferred contacts in the current political climate.
