Chaman Pathak Railway Explosion: 20 Killed, 25 Injured in Suicide Attack on Pakistan Train

Chaman Pathak Railway Explosion Rocks Balochistan — BLA Claims Suicide Attack on Passenger Train

Quetta – (Web Desk) – A deadly Chaman Pathak railway explosion shook southwestern Pakistan on Sunday morning, killing at least 20 people and wounding 25 others when a bomb ripped through a moving passenger train in Quetta district, Balochistan.

The train was travelling from Quetta Garrison toward Quetta Railway Station when the blast struck the tracks. Several coaches immediately caught fire. Emergency teams rushed to the scene to rescue survivors, control the flames, and shift the wounded to Civil Hospital Quetta.

Separatist group Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility. Its Majid Brigade unit called it a “highly organized” suicide attack, saying the train was carrying military personnel. Two carriages derailed, and nearby buildings and vehicles were also damaged in the powerful blast.

Government adviser Shahid Rind confirmed 14 deaths, including three Frontier Corps soldiers. He added that women and children were also among the victims. A senior official speaking anonymously put the death toll at 20, warning that casualties could rise further.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned the attack. He said terrorism would never break Pakistan’s resolve and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to wiping out militant violence across the country.

This is not the first time BLA has hit a train. In August 2025, its fighters stormed the Jaffar Express, taking hundreds of passengers hostage. That siege ended with over 60 deaths. Balochistan has seen years of unrest, with separatists claiming the province’s rich natural resources are being taken without benefiting local communities.
