PTI back azad take lion’s share as ECP issues results for 264 NA constituencies

Independents grab 101 NA seats, PML-N 75 PPP 54,
Islamabad_After the polling, the counting of votes began and after about three days, all the results of the National Assembly seats have been completed.
According to the provisional results, the results for 264 out of 266 seats of the National Assembly have been announced. In one constituency, NA-8, election could not be held due to the killing of a candidate, while the result of another has been withheld by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
The latest tally by the ECP shows that independent candidates have won at least 101 seats while PMLN is trailing closely behind with 75 seats and PPP with 54 seats. The gap between the number of independent candidates and the seat won by two major political parties narrowed down on Sunday morning after more results poured in.
The MQM won in 17 constituencies of Pakistan, JUI four, PML-Q also won in three constituencies, while the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party and Balochistan National Party won two seats each. Moreover, the MWM, National Party, PML-Z, Balochistan Awami Party, Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party and Pashtunkhwa National Awami Party have won one seat each.
As many as 17,816 independent and party-affiliated candidates contested 265 National Assembly, 296 Punjab Assembly, 130 Sindh Assembly, 113 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), and 51 Balochistan seats — a total of 855.
The polls, the largest-ever in the country’s history, are pivotal for the country’s uncertain socioeconomic and political future given the dire economy and security situation — and arguably an all-time high political polarisation.
The run-up to the polls saw violence with a significant surge in terrorist attacks, especially in Balochistan and KP.
Apart from the cowardly terrorist attack on police in Dera Ismail Khan (DI) that martyred four police, the polling day witnessed relevant calm with no major violent incident reported from anywhere in the country.
ECP bars ROs to issue final results of 10 NA and 16 provincial assembly seats,
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has barred the Returning Officers (ROs) to issue the final results of several National Assembly and provincial assembly seats.
A four-member bench headed by chief election commissioner held the hearing of alleged alteration in the election result of NA-48.
“We were ahead with the lead of 50,000 votes as per the Form-45 but the Returning Officer issued the Form-47 and changed our victory into defeat,” the counsel of PTI candidate Ali Bukhari argued.
The ECP issued notice to the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party backed candidate Raja Khurram Nawaz and barred the RO to issue the final notification of NA-47 and NA-48.
Meanwhile, ECP also barred the ROs to issue the final results of PK-73, PK-79, PK-80 and PK- 82. PTI backed Taimoor Jhagra and Kamran Bangash had challenged the results from PK-79 and PK-82 respectively.
