PM Shehbaz Calls for Preserving Hard-Earned Peace Gains
In Call With Iran's President, Shehbaz Urges Restraint
PAKISTAN & IRAN – (Special Correspondent/Web Desk) – In call with Iran’s president, PM Shehbaz calls for preserving hard-earned peace gains made over the past few months in the Middle East, as fresh fighting between Iran and the United States puts a fragile truce at risk. The Shehbaz Pezeshkian call took place on Friday and quickly became one of the top Pakistan Iran US ceasefire news updates of the week.
During the call, PM Shehbaz spoke about his deep worry over the sudden rise in tension across the region. He said calm needed to return soon. He also urged Iran and every other side involved to stay patient and avoid steps that could undo months of hard diplomatic work.
The prime minister was clear about one thing. All sides, he said, must protect the hard-earned peace gains built up over recent months. Losing this progress now would hurt everyone in the region, not just Iran and the US.

PM Shehbaz also spoke about the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, known widely as the Islamabad MoU. He called it a lasting plan for building trust and understanding between nations. He said the deal was never meant to be a short-term fix. It was built to last.
Pakistan, he added, remains ready to help. The prime minister told President Pezeshkian that Islamabad would keep playing a fair and honest part in bringing both sides to the table. He said talks and calm words remain the best way forward, not more fighting.
President Pezeshkian also had warm words for Pakistan. He thanked PM Shehbaz, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir. All three had attended the funeral of the late Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and Iran’s president said this meant a great deal to his country.

He also spoke about Iran’s own wish for peace. He praised Pakistan’s steady support and said Tehran valued the country’s honest efforts to keep the region stable.
Both leaders also looked back at decisions made during President Pezeshkian’s visit to Islamabad last month. They agreed to move faster on those plans and grow ties between the two countries in many areas.
PM Shehbaz closed the call with kind words for Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei. Both sides agreed to stay in close touch as the situation develops.
Later the same day, PM Shehbaz also spoke with Qatar’s Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. He shared Pakistan’s support with the people of Qatar and again called for restraint, dialogue, and diplomacy.
Writing on social media, PM Shehbaz thanked the Qatari leader for standing behind the peace push that led to the Islamabad MoU. He said both countries share the same goal, a peaceful and stable region for years to come.
As tensions rise once more between Iran and the US, Pakistan’s role as a calm voice in the region is drawing fresh attention. Many now see Islamabad’s ongoing effort as key to holding the fragile truce together.
