Islamabad: (News Desk) – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has formally launched the “Apna Ghar Scheme” aimed at helping low and middle-income citizens build their own homes across Pakistan.
Addressing a launching ceremony in Islamabad, the Prime Minister said providing shelter to citizens is a top priority of the government. Under the scheme, loans of up to Rs10 million will be available on easy terms, with an initial target of 50,000 houses in the first year and 500,000 houses over the next four years.

The scheme will be applicable across Islamabad, all four provinces, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Houses up to 10 marlas can be constructed under the financing facility, with a total lending volume of Rs3.2 trillion.
According to the announced structure, repayment will be spread over 20 years, with a 5 percent markup for the first 10 years and a market-based rate for the remaining period. The Prime Minister said he will personally review the progress of the scheme on a monthly basis.
He added that the initiative will also boost the construction sector, generate employment, and support industrial growth. Officials said the scheme has been developed in consultation with relevant institutions, including banks and the State Bank.
The Prime Minister also appreciated financial institutions participating in the program and announced incentives for high-performing banks. The government has described the scheme as a major step toward addressing Pakistan’s housing shortage and supporting economic activity through construction-led development.
