Peshawar School Tragedy: FIR Names Owners, Contractor After Roof Collapse
Police have registered a case under Section 322 as 30 children and a teacher died in Dir Colony.
Peshawar – (Staff Reporter/Web Desk) – Peshawar school tragedy has left the whole country in deep sorrow. Police have registered a case against the owners, shareholders and builder of a school in Dir Colony. A roof collapse there killed 30 children and a female teacher.
The case was filed at Agha Mir Jani Shah police station on behalf of the state. Police used Section 322 of the Pakistan Penal Code. This law covers a death caused without any intent to kill. Police say teams are working to arrest the named suspects.
The FIR says the school was built with poor quality material. It also says the building was in bad shape and was not fit to be used as a school.
According to the report, people had raised complaints about weak walls and roofs in the past. The school management allegedly did not fix the problem. The FIR adds that children also told the owners about the building’s condition, but nobody listened.
On Thursday, while classes were going on, the roof of a nursery room on the second floor came down. Rooms on the ground floor also caved in. The FIR says 52 people were hurt.
Rescue workers spent hours pulling children out of the rubble. Outside the school, worried parents waited at the gate. Many were crying and begging for any news of their loved ones.
The FIR says the school stood on a 16-marla plot owned by Waheed and Javed. The land was taken on lease in 2024, and the school building was made after that.
School owner Khan Muhammad earlier blamed several days of rain for the collapse. Police have now arrested him over the alleged use of weak construction material, according to an investigation officer.
Officials have also raised questions about the quality of the material and the strength of the building.
Families of the victims want a full and fair investigation. They say everyone responsible must face the law, so that another Peshawar school tragedy never happens again.
