Pakistan Stock Exchange Falls 1,494 Points as Investors Book Profits
KSE-100 slips to 173,885 at the Friday prayers break after a strong rally, as traders lock in gains before the long weekend.
Pakistan Stock Exchange – (Staff Reporter/Web Desk) – The Pakistan Stock Exchange saw selling pressure on Friday after several days of strong buying. The benchmark KSE-100 Index dropped by more than 1,400 points in early trade.
At the Friday prayers break, the index stood at 173,885.77 points. That was a fall of 1,494.09 points, or 0.86 percent.
Many traders chose to book profits. The long weekend also played a part, as investors preferred to lock in gains before the market closed for the break.
One market expert shared a similar view on X. He said some profit-taking was likely after the recent rally.
Experts also pointed to global worries. Ongoing geopolitical uncertainty and slow progress in peace talks may keep investors careful in the coming days.
There was some good news on the economic front. The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) reported that its foreign exchange reserves rose by $39 million. The total now stands at $21.56 billion for the week ended October 30, 2026.
The World Bank also shared fresh numbers on debt. Pakistan’s external debt stock grew by 4 percent to $135.1 billion in 2025. Most of this debt is owed to multilateral and bilateral lenders.
The market had a very different mood on Thursday. Oil prices fell sharply around the world, and global risk appetite improved after the US midterm elections.
This pushed investors to buy across the board. The KSE-100 Index gained 3,366.38 points, or 1.96 percent, and closed at 175,379.87 points.
