Pakistan Turkiye MoU Power Sector Cooperation Deepens in Istanbul
PAKSITAN & TURKIYE – (Web Desk) – Pakistan and Turkiye have signed three key agreements to boost the Pakistan Turkiye MoU power sector cooperation. The deals were signed during high-level talks held in Istanbul.
The agreements were signed between energy bodies of both countries. These include ISMO with EPIAS, ISMO with TEIAS, and PPMC with TEDAS.
The MoUs cover a wide range of areas. These include electricity market development, power system operations, transmission planning, and distribution sector management.
Digitalisation, capacity building, and technical knowledge exchange are also part of the framework. Both sides agreed to work closely on post-privatisation governance as well.

Federal Minister for Energy Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari welcomed the signing. He said these agreements will help strengthen Pakistan’s energy institutions.
Leghari stressed that Pakistan wants to learn from Turkiye’s experience in electricity market reform. He also highlighted the importance of Turkiye’s success in distribution sector modernisation.
The Turkish side also showed full commitment to long-term cooperation. Both countries will now work on joint training programmes, expert exchanges, and study visits.
The federal government called this a major outcome of the Pakistan-Turkiye energy dialogue. It reflects the growing strategic partnership between the two brotherly nations.
