Pakistan reach 179 after Bangladesh’s commanding first innings

Bangladesh maintain strong advantage despite Pakistan’s steady reply

DHAKA: (Web Desk) – Pakistan national cricket team ended the second day of the first Test against Bangladesh national cricket team at 179 for one in reply to Bangladesh’s first-innings total of 413 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.

After resuming their innings on Day Two, Bangladesh were bowled out shortly after lunch with captain Najmul Hossain Shanto leading the scoring with 101 runs, while Mominul Haque contributed 91.

For Pakistan, Mohammad Abbas delivered an outstanding bowling performance by taking five wickets. Shaheen Shah Afridi picked up three wickets, while Hasan Ali and Noman Ali claimed one wicket each.

In response, Pakistan made a confident start with debutant opener Azan Owais and Imam-ul-Haq putting together a 106-run opening partnership. Imam-ul-Haq was dismissed after scoring 45 runs.

Another debutant, Abdullah Fazal, then joined Azan Owais at the crease, and the pair added 73 runs for the second wicket to stabilize Pakistan’s innings further.

At stumps, Azan Owais remained unbeaten on 85, while Abdullah Fazal was not out on 37. Despite Pakistan’s strong response, Bangladesh still hold a lead of 234 runs.

Earlier, Pakistan had won the toss and elected to field first in the opening Test of the series.
