Ambassador Rizwan Sheikh praises national unity at Washington event

WASHINGTON: (Web Desk) – The Embassy of Pakistan in Washington, D.C. hosted a grand ceremony to mark the first anniversary of Marka-e-Haq, commemorating what officials described as a symbol of Pakistan’s unity, resilience, and unwavering national determination.

The event was attended by a large gathering that included members of the Pakistani-American community, scholars, students, business leaders, media representatives, and embassy officials.

Participants from the diaspora expressed strong solidarity with Pakistan and reaffirmed their commitment to the homeland. The ceremony featured patriotic songs and chants of “Pakistan Zindabad,” creating an atmosphere filled with national pride and unity.

The gathering paid tribute to the men and women of Pakistan’s armed forces for their role in defending the country’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national dignity. Pakistan’s civil and military leadership was also praised for its role during critical national challenges.

Messages from the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan were read during the ceremony, while video messages from senior government officials reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to defending the country. Defence Attaché Irfan Ali read out a message from Syed Asim Munir.

Pakistan Advances Economic Reform Agenda in High-Level Washington Meetings

Addressing the audience, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, highlighted the significance of Marka-e-Haq and praised the unity demonstrated by the Pakistani nation during challenging times.

He stated that Pakistan’s resilience, strategic importance, and contribution toward regional and global peace continue to strengthen. Referring to the events of May 2025, the ambassador said the nation stood united alongside its leadership and armed forces.

The ambassador also emphasized that Pakistan’s commitment to peace should not be interpreted as weakness and described the country’s response to external challenges as a collective success achieved through civil, military, and diplomatic coordination.

He appreciated the role played by Donald Trump in supporting ceasefire efforts between the two nuclear-armed states.

Discussing future priorities, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh linked national defense with economic strength and stressed the importance of achieving economic stability and prosperity. He also encouraged the Pakistani-American diaspora to play a stronger role in enhancing relations between Pakistan and the United States.

The ceremony also featured a documentary showcasing Pakistan’s defense efforts, along with live performances of national songs that further energized the audience.

The event concluded with a renewed pledge for national unity, progress, and collective responsibility toward building a stronger and more prosperous Pakistan.
