Pakistan Plans ODI Squad Changes For Australia Series

Pakistan Likely To Revamp ODI Squad Ahead Of Australia Series

ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – Pakistan cricket selectors are reportedly preparing several changes to the national ODI squad ahead of the upcoming three-match series against Australia, following internal consultations on team selection.

Sources suggest that the management has reviewed performances from the recent series against Bangladesh and is now considering adjustments to strengthen the squad balance for the home series against a strong Australian side.

Former captain Babar Azam is expected to return to the ODI setup after being discussed during selection meetings. His inclusion would mark a significant boost to Pakistan’s batting lineup.

Opening batter Fakhar Zaman, along with spinner Sufiyan Muqeem and young fast bowler Hunain Shah, are also being considered for inclusion in the revised squad.

However, uncertainty remains over the future of all-rounders Faheem Ashraf and Hussain Talat, with reports suggesting they may not retain their places in the final squad.

Discussions are also ongoing regarding the leadership role of Mohammad Rizwan, although no official decision has been confirmed by the Pakistan Cricket Board.

The Australian team is scheduled to arrive in Islamabad on May 23 for the white-ball tour. Pakistan will begin preparations on May 22 in Rawalpindi, including training sessions and a practice match ahead of the series.

The ODI series between Pakistan and Australia will be played on May 30, June 2, and June 4.

Cricket analysts believe the expected changes reflect an attempt by Pakistan to blend experienced players with emerging talent while fine-tuning combinations ahead of upcoming international tournaments.
