Pakistan, EU Vow Stronger Cooperation Amid Regional Tensions

ISLAMABAD (News Desk) – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held talks with European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas on the sidelines of the 33rd ASEAN Regional Forum, reaffirming their commitment to expanding cooperation under the Pakistan-EU Strategic Engagement framework.

According to the Foreign Office, discussions covered key regional developments, rising Iran-US tensions, and a range of issues of shared interest between Pakistan and the European Union.

Both sides emphasized that dialogue remains the most practical and effective approach to addressing the Iran-US situation, highlighting diplomacy as the only sustainable route toward peace and regional stability.

The meeting also included discussions on how geopolitical tensions are affecting global energy markets, maritime security, international commerce, and supply chain networks.

Dar reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to fully implementing international conventions linked to the Generalised Scheme of Preferences Plus (GSP+) arrangement, expressing Islamabad’s determination to further deepen economic and diplomatic ties with the European Union.
