Pakistan Army: A National Institution with No Political Ambitions, Says ISPR

Extensive Counter-Terrorism Operations: Over 32,000 operations conducted this year, with 90 militants killed recently

Pakistan-DG ISPR Outlines Pakistan Army’s Anti-Terrorism Efforts and Accountability Measures. In a press conference today, Major General Ahmad Sharif Chaudhry, Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), detailed the Pakistan Army’s ongoing counter-terrorism operations and internal security measures.

General Chaudhry reported that the army has carried out over 32,172 operations this year alone, with more than 130 operations currently in progress. He affirmed the army’s commitment to continue the fight against terrorism until all extremists are eliminated. In the past month, 90 militants have been neutralized, including Abuzar, a prominent militant leader also known as Saddam.

The DG ISPR reaffirmed the army’s stance on the events of May 9th, emphasizing that there will be no shift in their position. He condemned the attacks on military installations and the desecration of national symbols, pledging that those responsible will face legal consequences.

General Chaudhry highlighted the army’s dedication to tackling digital terrorism and ensuring transparency. He reiterated that the Pakistan Army remains a national institution with no political affiliations, neither supporting nor opposing any political party.

Army’s Accountability Mechanism Transparent and Stringent: DG ISPR

Regarding internal accountability, the DG ISPR addressed the case of Faiz Hameed, stating that legal action will be taken against those spreading misinformation and propaganda on social media. The case involving Hameed has been forwarded to the army via the Defence Ministry. A high-level court of inquiry has been established to investigate the Top City case before proceeding with a Field General Court Martial.

General Chaudhry assured that arrested officers will be granted rights, including the ability to appoint their own legal counsel and the right to appeal. Faiz Hameed, the former DG ISI, was taken into custody on August 12. The ISPR had previously stated that a detailed court of inquiry was conducted by the Pakistan Army, in compliance with Supreme Court orders, to investigate the complaints against Hameed.
