Three Brothers Killed, One Injured in Dukki IED Blast

DUKKI: (Staff Reporter) – Three brothers were killed and another man sustained injuries after an improvised explosive device (IED) detonated in Dukki district of Balochistan on Sunday, according to police and local media reports.

The blast occurred in the Killi Bakhtiar Khan area of Loni tehsil while a vehicle was travelling through a riverbed, Dukki Superintendent of Police Mansoor Ahmed Buzdar said.

Police said the victims were on their way to carry out farming activities when their vehicle struck the explosive device. The deceased were identified as Rehmatullah, Daurani and Niamatullah, sons of Sultan.

Another passenger, Atiqullah, son of Maulvi Naik Muhammad, was wounded in the explosion. Rescue personnel and police shifted the bodies and injured man to a nearby hospital for treatment and medico-legal procedures.

Following the incident, police launched a search operation in the surrounding area and began examining the blast site to determine how the explosive device was planted and who was responsible.

The explosion comes roughly two months after security forces reportedly killed three suspected militants during an intelligence-based operation in Loni, Dukki, in June.

At the time, security officials claimed the suspects were allegedly backed by India and were involved in several attacks in the area. Authorities said weapons and explosives were recovered following an exchange of fire.

Officials had also linked the suspects to incidents including the Rara Hashim attack and the burning of trucks. Police have yet to establish whether the latest blast is connected to those earlier cases.
