Nepra Tariff Reduction June 2026 Cuts Bills by Rs1.99
Nepra Tariff Reduction June 2026 to Save Consumers Rs67 Billion
Nepra – (Web Desk) – The Nepra tariff reduction June 2026 is now official. The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority has approved a cut of Rs1.99 per unit in electricity charges. This relief comes under the quarterly adjustment for the period from January to March 2026. Consumers across the country will see lower bills starting this month.
Every few months, Nepra reviews the actual costs and revenues in the power sector. If the numbers come in lower than expected, consumers get a refund through their electricity bills. This time, the adjustment worked in favour of the public. The total relief passed on to consumers stands at Rs67.17 billion, spread over three months.
The reduction of Rs1.99 per unit will apply from June to August 2026. However, June bills will show a slightly smaller drop. This is because Nepra also approved a separate increase of Rs1.19 per unit under the monthly fuel cost adjustment for April 2026. After both figures are applied, consumers will get a net relief of around 80 paisa per unit in June. From July onwards, the full Rs1.99 reduction will show on bills.
The tariff cut applies to electricity consumers across Pakistan, including those served by K-Electric in Karachi. It covers all standard consumer categories. However, lifeline consumers, electric vehicle charging stations, and prepaid meter users are not included in this particular adjustment.
Nepra has already sent its decision to the federal government for official notification. Once the government issues the notification, distribution companies will apply the reduction. If your June bill has already been issued before this notification, the adjustment will be added to your next billing cycle.
Power sector officials stated that timely steps by the government helped avoid a much larger tariff increase. Due to fuel price pressure and supply issues earlier this year, electricity rates could have gone up by Rs5 to Rs6 per unit for June. Instead, consumers are receiving relief, not a hike. Officials credited improved power demand, better line loss management, and stable fuel procurement for this positive outcome.
