According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the attackers first detonated an explosive device at the camp’s main entrance before attempting to breach the security perimeter. Rangers personnel responded swiftly, preventing the militants from entering the camp.
During the ensuing exchange of fire, security forces killed three militants and arrested another in an injured condition. The detained suspect was identified as an Afghan national allegedly backed by India.
The ISPR said three Rangers personnel embraced martyrdom while courageously defending the camp, while four others sustained injuries during the operation.
A clearance operation remains underway to eliminate any remaining militants in the surrounding area. The military’s media wing said security forces and law-enforcement agencies will continue counter-terrorism operations under the Resolve for Stability vision until the menace of externally sponsored terrorism is eradicated.
Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir expressed heartfelt condolences to the families of the martyred personnel, stating that their sacrifices had strengthened the nation’s determination to safeguard Pakistan.
President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi paid tribute to the fallen Rangers personnel, praising their courage, professionalism and unwavering commitment in thwarting the terrorist assault.
Eight Militants Killed in Security Operations in Balochistan: ISPR
Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also condemned the attack, commending the Rangers’ prompt response and paying tribute to the martyred personnel. He reiterated his support for the country’s security forces in their fight against terrorism.
Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti strongly denounced the attack, describing it as an assault on Pakistan’s peace and stability. He honoured the martyrs, expressed solidarity with their families and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured personnel.
