(PPP) senior leader Khursheed Shah criticizes PML-N.

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) senior leader Khursheed Shah has voiced concerns over the recent controversy surrounding the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) losing its iconic bat electoral symbol. Shah remarked that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) seemed to be waiting for this development before launching its election campaign.

The context arises from the Supreme Court’s decision to uphold the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) ruling, declaring the PTI’s intra-party polls “unconstitutional” and consequently stripping the party of its bat symbol just weeks ahead of the February 8 polls.

PML-N Senior Vice President Maryam Nawaz promptly commenced her party’s election campaign on Monday with a rally in Okara. During the rally, Maryam criticized PTI founder Imran Khan, accusing him of orchestrating and executing violent attacks on May 9. She humorously remarked on the change in the PTI’s symbol, suggesting that it should now be a “baton.”

Khursheed Shah, in response, stressed the need for a level playing field for all political parties, expressing his belief that the PTI should still participate in the elections despite losing their electoral symbol due to non-compliance with intra-party election laws.

“The PTI did not implement the law while conducting intra-party elections; therefore, they were stripped of the bat symbol,” Shah explained
