Monsoon Rains: NDMA Issues Flood & Landslide Alert Across Pakistan Until July 25

The NDMA has warned of potential urban flooding in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Multan, and other cities, with low-lying areas at risk of inundation.

Islamabad: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued an alert warning of potential flooding and landslides due to ongoing monsoon rains expected across the country until July 25.

According to an NDMA spokesperson, intermittent rains are forecasted in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, posing a risk of high water levels in rivers and streams, including the Kabul, Swat, Panjkora, Kalpani, and Bara. There is also a threat of flooding and landslides in areas such as Nowshera, Malakand, Swat, Dir, and upper mountainous regions.

Heavy rainfall is also expected in urban areas including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Sialkot, Faisalabad, and Multan. Additional districts such as Khanewal, Sahiwal, Muzaffargarh, Kot Addu, Taunsa, Rajanpur, Bahawalpur, and Rahim Yar Khan are also likely to be affected.

In Sindh, rainfall is expected in Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Jacobabad, Thatta, Badin, Larkana, Jamshoro, Nawabshah, and Mirpurkhas. The rains could lead to urban flooding, water accumulation on roads, in streets, and underpasses across the province.

The NDMA has urged citizens and local authorities to remain vigilant and take necessary precautionary measures to mitigate risks associated with the expected weather conditions.
