Islamabad Court Reserves Verdict for PTI Activist Sanam Javed’s Remand Request

Sanam Javed was arrested from Gujranwala yesterday, shortly after his release from Central Jail, and was subsequently taken into custody by Islamabad police.

ISLAMABAD: An Islamabad court has reserved its decision regarding the physical remand request for PTI activist and social worker Sanam Javed. The hearing took place in the court of Duty Magistrate Malik Imran at the District and Sessions Courts Islamabad, where the FIA presented Sanam Javed.

The FIA prosecutor sought physical remand, while Sanam Javed’s lawyer, Mian Ali Ashfaq Advocate, argued against it, highlighting that the Lahore High Court had acquitted his client due to a lack of legal evidence. He criticized the ongoing cycle of arrests, stating that Sanam was previously cleared of charges in Lahore, then implicated in cases in Sargodha, and again acquitted, only to face new allegations in Gujranwala.

Advocate Ashfaq further contended that Sanam should be released, noting that the Advocate General Punjab confirmed in the Lahore High Court that Sanam Javed is not wanted in any case by the Punjab Police.
