PTI Long March Strategy: No Weapons, Peaceful Protest

Peshawar – (Staff Reporter/Web Desk) – The PTI long march strategy is now final, and the party says it will head to Islamabad on September 27 under all circumstances.

PTI KP Information Secretary Shaukat Yousafzai spoke to Geo News on Thursday. He said workers must not carry sticks, slingshots or any kind of weapon. Anyone found with them will have no link with the party, he warned.

He said the party held a meeting on the plan, and everyone agreed to move ahead. “Wherever we are stopped, we will sit and protest there,” he said. All workers have been told to remain peaceful.

PTI spokesperson Sheikh Waqas Akram said an online meeting also discussed the plan. According to him, nobody in the meeting asked to delay the march.

The party wants the release of its founder Imran Khan. It also demands what it calls the restoration of constitutional supremacy.

PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Khan said net launchers should not be used on political people. He said their complaints should be heard and solved. He added that serious talks must happen when a big march is underway.

Gohar also said the programme was announced well in advance, so nothing will change. He said Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has the full support of the party and will stay in his post.

Speaking at a law and order meeting in Peshawar, CM Afridi said KP police and people have fought terrorism for 22 years. He said his government raised the police budget from Rs80 billion to Rs190 billion this year. Last year, it also gave Rs35 billion in extra funds.

Afridi said the march is a peaceful protest, not an armed fight. He warned that the province would take its own steps if the federal government used police for political revenge. He added that anyone who wants to stop the protest must first remove the right to assembly from the Constitution.
