Islamabad High Court extends stay order on village demolitions

Islamabad: (Web Desk) – The Islamabad High Court has extended its stay order against the demolition of houses in Syedpur Village, directing that no action be taken until April 21.

The court restrained the Capital Development Authority from demolishing the homes of more than 128 petitioners while the case remains under hearing.

The petition was heard by Justice Raja Inam Amin Minhas, where lawyers representing the petitioners, including Raja Rizwan Abbasi and Ansar Kiani, appeared before the court.

During the proceedings, the court sought final arguments from all parties on the next hearing date and instructed lawyers to come fully prepared. The judge remarked that a decision on the merits of the case would be issued after hearing all sides.

The court also asked what procedure would be followed if residents were evicted later, prompting the petitioners’ counsel to request that the restraining order remain in place. The lawyer assured the court of full preparation for the next hearing.

The court subsequently upheld the stay order and adjourned the hearing until April 21.
