Pakistan Records $17.93 Billion Textile Exports Despite Mixed Export Performance
ISLAMABAD: (Staff Reporter) – Pakistan’s textile exports reached $17.93 billion during the fiscal year 2025-26, according to a report released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) on Thursday.
The report showed that overall textile exports recorded a slight decline of 0.26 percent compared to the previous fiscal year. Despite the marginal drop, several product categories posted positive growth, led by strong demand for ready-made garments and cotton yarn.
Exports of other textile products increased by 8.67 percent, reaching $790.8 million. Ready-made garment exports also performed well, rising 3.87 percent to $4.288 billion, compared with $4.13 billion in the previous fiscal year.
Cotton yarn exports registered notable growth, climbing 12.40 percent to $765 million, up from $680 million a year earlier.
Raw cotton exports recorded the highest growth during the year, surging by 199 percent to $2.6 million, compared with $871,000 in the previous fiscal year.
However, several major textile categories experienced declines. Exports of textile products excluding towels and bedwear slipped 0.71 percent to $770 million.
Knitwear exports fell 0.88 percent to $4.966 billion, while bedwear exports remained almost unchanged, edging down 0.01 percent to $3.11 billion.
Towel exports declined 1.93 percent to $1.06 billion, while cotton cloth exports dropped 7.55 percent to $1.67 billion. Exports of tents, canvas and tarpaulin also decreased by 3.81 percent, reaching $120 million.
On a year-on-year basis, textile exports witnessed a sharper decline in June 2026, falling 16.71 percent to $1.267 billion, compared with $1.521 billion recorded in June 2025.
