LAHORE: (Staff Reporter) – Heavy monsoon rains continue to batter Lahore and other parts of Pakistan, causing widespread flooding in low-lying areas and disrupting electricity supply as several LESCO feeders have tripped.
In Lahore, torrential rain lashed areas including Gulberg, Jail Road, Ferozepur Road, and Model Town. The downpour led to waterlogging in low-lying neighborhoods, while multiple LESCO feeders went offline, leaving residents without electricity and causing significant inconvenience.
Power outages were reported in several localities, including Garhi Shahu, Cavalry Ground, Shadman, Mughalpura, Firdous Market, Model Colony, and Makkah Colony.
Meanwhile, thunderstorms and heavy rainfall also affected several cities in Sindh. In Jacobabad and nearby areas, strong winds accompanied the rain, bringing relief from the intense heat. Similar weather conditions were reported in Kandhkot, Lakhi Ghulam Shah, Thul, and surrounding regions.
In Balochistan, heavy rainfall triggered flood-like conditions in Kohlu district and its surrounding areas. Rainwater entered homes in Mohabbatabad, New Kili, Mari Bazaar, Model Town, and Peoples Colony. Following the overflow of a local dam, authorities issued evacuation instructions for residents living in nearby residential areas due to the risk of further flooding.
