Greece Boat Tragedy: PM Shehbaz, Dar, and Naqvi Summoned by Court Over Alleged Negligence
Petition Blames Government Negligence for Greece Boat Tragedy, Seeks Legal Action
Sukkur – A local lawyer has filed a petition in court, seeking legal action against Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, following the tragic boat accident in Greece that resulted in the deaths of 75 Pakistanis.
The Additional Sessions Judge (Court-II) in Sukkur has issued notices summoning the three officials to appear before the court on January 15. The court has also instructed the Speaker of the National Assembly to ensure the attendance of the aforementioned ministers.
The petition claims that the tragedy was caused by government negligence, with the lawyer arguing that the lack of employment opportunities in Pakistan forces many individuals to seek illegal migration routes, often at great personal risk. The petition further demands that a case be filed against the government officials at the Rohri police station for failing to take appropriate measures to prevent such incidents.
