LPG prices may surge amid gas supply shortage
LPG chairman warns price could hit Rs 500 per kg
Lahore (Web Desk) – The Chairman of the LPG Distribution Association, Irfan Khokhar, has warned that the price of LPG could surge to Rs 500 per kilogram if the ongoing gas shortage is not addressed.
Speaking out, Khokhar criticized the recent raid by the Federal Investigation Agency on an LPG ship, calling it “unjustified” and expressing concern that continued government interference could leave low-income households without fuel during Ramadan.
LPG Dealers Criticise FIA Raid Warning Gas Price Surge
He highlighted that importers are apprehensive about FIA actions and have indicated they may halt orders of LPG ships in protest. Khokhar further noted that natural gas shortages already exist in the country, and LNG deliveries have been disrupted since March 14, intensifying the risk of price spikes.
The LPG Distribution Association chairman urged Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to take immediate notice and ensure raids on LPG shipments are stopped. He stressed that uninterrupted gas supply is critical to providing affordable fuel to citizens, especially during the holy month.
Khokhar warned that failure to address the situation could lead to “unbearable” prices for the public, emphasizing the urgent need for government intervention to stabilize the market and protect consumers.
