Google Chrome is About to Become Much More “Automatic”
Chrome users can now search across multiple open tabs using AI Mode.
WASHINGTON: (Web Desk) – Google has introduced new AI-powered search tools for Google Chrome, expanding Chrome’s AI Mode with features aimed at research, tab management, and productivity.
The latest update is rolling out in the US, with broader availability planned later.
Side-by-Side Search Experience
One of the new additions allows webpages to open next to AI Mode in a side-by-side layout.
When users click a webpage from search results, the page appears alongside AI Mode, making it easier to compare sources, review information, and ask follow-up questions without leaving the current workflow.
Google says the feature is designed to help users continue researching while browsing multiple sources.
Search Across Chrome Tabs
Chrome users can now search across multiple open tabs using AI Mode.
By selecting tabs through the new plus menu on the New Tab page or within AI Mode, users can include open webpages, images, and files such as PDFs in a search request.
EU Demands Google Share Search Data Rivals
This allows AI Mode to use content from multiple sources at once when answering questions.
Google demonstrated the feature as a study tool, where users can combine lecture slides, readings, notes, and open tabs to generate more customized answers.
The feature is available now on Chrome desktop and mobile.
Faster Access to Tools
Google has also updated Chrome with easier access to tools through the new plus menu.
Users can quickly launch features such as Canvas for organizing plans, projects, or study guides, as well as image creation tools for generating or editing images within AI Mode.
Expanding Chrome’s AI Focus
The update follows other recent Chrome additions, including immersive reading and vertical tabs, as Google continues adding AI-focused productivity features to the browser.
