Ontario: (Noorul Amin) – Police in Ontario, Canada, have carried out a major crackdown against an alleged international extortion network targeting South Asian business owners, arresting 17 individuals. According to Peel Regional Police, the accused are facing more than 106 criminal charges collectively.

Authorities said the suspects were linked to an organized crime network involved in intimidating members of the South Asian community particularly business owners through threats, shootings, arson attacks, and extortion in areas including Brampton, Mississauga, Caledon, and British Columbia. Investigators also uncovered alleged connections between the network and the U.S. state of California.

Several law enforcement agencies participated in the joint investigation. Police stated that the probe was launched in December 2025 under a special task force.
