France vs Sweden 3-0 Win Sets Up Paraguay Clash
France vs Sweden – (Web Desk) – France vs Sweden 3-0 was the final score as Kylian Mbappe led Les Bleus into the World Cup last 16 with another brilliant display on Tuesday night.
The French star scored twice, taking his tournament tally to six goals. That puts him level with Lionel Messi at the top of the scoring charts.
Mbappe broke the deadlock right before halftime. He picked his spot cleverly and slotted the ball home to give France a 1-0 lead going into the break.
Bradley Barcola doubled the lead early in the second half, finding the net in the 53rd minute. Mbappe then added his second goal in the 74th minute to wrap up the win.
This was Mbappe’s 18th World Cup goal in just 18 matches. He now sits only one goal behind Messi’s all-time record of 19.
Speaking after the match, Mbappe said he knows his role and believes his teammates share the same understanding of what the squad needs to achieve.
Sweden coach Graham Potter had admitted before kickoff that his side would need a near-perfect performance to stop France’s attack. In the end, they couldn’t find an answer.
France will now face Paraguay in Philadelphia on Saturday as they push for a place in the quarter-finals.
