Federal Government Issues Fresh Appointments Transfers and Contract Extensions for Officers

ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – The federal government has announced a fresh round of appointments, transfers, postings and contract extensions involving officers serving across various ministries and departments through separate notifications issued by the Establishment Division.

According to the notifications, the contractual appointment of Brigadier (retd) Muzaffar Ali Ranjha as Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Inspection Commission has been extended for an additional two years. The new term took effect on July 1, 2026, and will continue until further orders under the existing terms and conditions.

The government has also granted a one-year extension to Usman Gul as Director General of the National Institute of Public Administration (NIPA), Peshawar. His renewed tenure became effective from May 15, 2026.

In another development, Aurangzeb Badini, a Grade-18 officer of the Pakistan Administrative Service who was awaiting posting in the Establishment Division, has been transferred to the National Institute of Public Administration (NIPA), Quetta.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Army officer Major Tahseen Ahmed Zafar has been posted to the National Police Academy as Deputy Director Physical (BS-18) on a two-year secondment. His appointment takes immediate effect and will remain valid until further orders.

The Establishment Division has also appointed Muhammad Asif Nawaz, a Grade-18 Pakistan Administrative Service officer awaiting posting, as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to enable him to participate in the Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program until June 30, 2027.

Separately, Dr. Arshad Mahmood, a Grade-22 Pakistan Administrative Service officer serving as OSD, has been granted one month of paid ex-Pakistan leave from July 13 to August 12, 2026, to visit Canada. The notification clarifies that the Government of Pakistan will not bear any foreign exchange expenses related to his travel or stay abroad.

In addition, Sanaullah, a Grade-19 Pakistan Administrative Service officer currently serving as OSD, has been transferred to the Cabinet Division.

Among other postings, Maryam Malik, a Grade-18 Office Management Group officer serving as OSD, has been appointed as Section Officer in the Finance Division, while Fazal Naeem, also a Grade-18 OMG officer serving as OSD, has been posted as Section Officer in the Establishment Division.

The Establishment Division issued separate notifications to formalize all the appointments, transfers, postings and extensions.
