Federal Court Disposes Of Fazeela Abbasi’s Petition After Withdrawal
Court Disposes Of TikToker Fazeela Abbasi’s Petition Following Counsel’s Withdrawal
ISLAMABAD: (Showbiz Desk) – The Federal Constitutional Court on Monday disposed of a petition filed by TikToker Dr Fazeela Abbasi challenging an Islamabad High Court ruling in a money laundering case after her counsel withdrew it.
A two-member bench headed by Chief Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan heard the petition. During the proceedings, Fazeela Abbasi’s lawyer withdrew the plea, following which the court disposed of the matter.
The petition had challenged the Islamabad High Court’s decision to reject her request for quashing the FIR registered against her in the case.
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had registered cases against Dr Fazeela over allegations of money laundering and operating a medical facility without the required legal approvals.
According to investigators, financial transactions worth more than Rs2.5 billion were traced through multiple domestic and foreign currency accounts. The investigation also involved suspected transfers through hundi and hawala channels.
A joint bank account held by Fazeela and her brother, actor Hamza Ali Abbasi, was also reportedly examined during the investigation and frozen.
Earlier, the Islamabad High Court had declined to quash the FIR while granting her interim relief in the proceedings. Her bail in the cases was subsequently extended several times by the relevant trial court.
The latest petition before the Federal Constitutional Court was withdrawn by her counsel, bringing the proceedings to an end without a ruling on the merits of the challenge.
