Zoha Waseem Explains Technical Issue Behind Viral Autotune Controversy
Actress Zoha Waseem Discusses Autotune Claims And Ranks Pakistani Celebrity Singers
ISLAMABAD: (Showbiz Desk) – Pakistani indie singer Zoha Waseem has addressed the controversy surrounding allegations that she relies on autotune, explaining that a technical issue during a live performance led to the speculation.
Speaking in a candid conversation, Zoha said the incident occurred during a sound check when a delay in her in-ear monitors disrupted her timing. She explained that she had to stop singing midway, but a short clip from the moment was recorded and circulated on social media, creating the impression that she could not sing without autotune.
During the same conversation, Zoha was also asked to rank several Pakistani celebrities according to their singing abilities.
She initially placed Anural Khalid at number five and Aima Baig at number three. Hania Aamir was first ranked sixth, with Zoha commenting that she had one good song.
However, after realising that she was being asked to rank singers rather than celebrities in general, Zoha revised her choice and placed Hania Aamir at number one, praising her singing voice.
Zoha Waseem is an emerging Pakistani indie singer who has gained recognition through original music and cover performances. She received wider attention with her song Majboor, released in September 2025 in collaboration with Sheheryar Rehan.
Her other projects include Dil for Coke Studio Nu.WAV and the drama soundtrack Goonj.
