Israeli Actress Says She No Longer Feels Proud Of Being Israeli
Chilli Goldenberg's Remarks On Israel Go Viral Online
ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) Israeli actress and model Chilli Goldenberg has sparked widespread debate after expressing that she no longer feels proud of her Israeli identity during a live television interview.
Speaking on Israel’s Channel 13, Goldenberg openly criticised several Israeli policies, particularly the occupation of Palestinian territories, the continued expansion of settlements and the increasing influence of religion in Israeli society.
She said that although she considered herself a patriot and deeply loved her country, the current situation had made it difficult for her to feel proud of being Israeli.
Goldenberg, however, expressed hope that circumstances would eventually change and that she would once again be able to take pride in her national identity.
During the interview, she argued that the occupation of Palestinian territories and the expansion of Israeli settlements had contributed to growing extremism, religious influence and arrogance within Israeli society.
The discussion took an unexpected turn when the programme’s hosts informed Goldenberg that her remarks had been broadcast live on television.
Appearing surprised, the actress said she had assumed the programme was on a commercial break and that the cameras were no longer recording.
She questioned why nobody had told her that the interview was being transmitted live and expressed dissatisfaction over the situation.
A video of the exchange has since circulated widely on social media, attracting attention and triggering debate over Goldenberg’s criticism of Israeli government policies and the country’s approach towards the Palestinian territories.
